Forensic Fractography of Bone

چکیده

Fractography involves the study of fractures and cracks in a material order to understand cause failure. Even as complex, highly hierarchical composite, bone is that obeys physical laws, including cracking behavior. The fields fractography fracture mechanics, therefore, have much offer our understanding bone’s response loading force. Here we discuss how can be used assessment originating from impacts those projectiles. Fractures patterns frequently associated with impact trauma—including radial fractures, circumferential beveling—are described interpretively forensic analyses; however, mechanisms for their production arrangement are often underutilized fully trauma event. These reviewed here perspective. Furthermore, review presented new data indicating beveling impacts, especially projectiles, produced by cone cracking, process also well documented other brittle materials. This information enhance general, context specific cases. Moreover, describing interpreting skeletal within mechanics has advantage aligning nomenclature anthropology scientific fields, particularly involved To facilitate this alignment, provide discussion definitions various fractography-related terms.

Fractography Analysis of Monolithic Epoxy with Tailored Topography

The topographical features of fractured tensile, flexural, K1C, and impact specimens of monolithic epoxy have been studied and correlated with mechanical properties and surface features of samples before fracture. The topographical features studied include waviness (Wa), roughness average (Ra), root mean square value (Rq), and maximum roughness height (Rmax or Rz). As surface notches generate t...

Life Estimate of a Compressor Blade through Fractography

Failure analysis of fractured components provides some information about the causes and conditions of fracture. Fractography is an indispensable part of the failure analysis as it is usually the only means by which the failure mechanism can be established. By using fractography, some information such as component’s life, values of the stress intensity factor and the applied stress can be calcul...

The impact velocity and bone fracture pattern: Forensic perspective.

Studies on bone-energy interaction are meager and revealed only a general correlation between the fracture pattern and the mechanism of the insult. This study has two objectives, to establish a usable fracture analysis method and to reveal the association between the energy of the force and the fracture pattern. Dynatup Model POE 2000 (Instron Co.) low energy pendulum impact machine was utilize...

Fractography of Polymer Composites: Current Status and Future Issues

With the increasing prevalence of polymer composites in engineering applications, invariably mechanical failures of these components are occurring. Key to addressing this is fractographic analysis; the examination of fracture surfaces to deduce information about the damage and failure of components. The fractography of isotropic materials, particularly metals, has been used as a tool for many y...

Forensic and Anti-Forensic Computing

Computer forensics is the use of computer investigation and analysis techniques to identify, examine and preserve electronic information, potentially for this to be used as evidence in a court of law. Anti-forensics is the attempt to reduce the quantity and quality of data gathered by the above mentioned activity. In addition to describing the history and current status of forensics/anti-forens...
